ZUBEDO privacy policy

ZUBEDO takes special care to protect the privacy of registered users, particularly those classified as young persons (under 16 years of age).

To help protect your privacy and the privacy of your family, ZUBEDO hereby confirms, in accordance with recognized published best practice guidelines, that it will not collect personal information without the express permission of users, and in the case of younger persons, the express permission of their parents or legal guardians of the younger person. Since ZUBEDO wants to comply with industry best practice, we ask for as little information as possible, and we confirm that we won’t share it with any outside parties without your specific permission.

For reference, ZUBEDO only uses your email address to communicate with you in relation to your ZUBEDO account, and when requested to do so (I.e. if you’ve forgotten your password). Any other information that we may ask from you (such as your date of birth, gender country of residence etc), is only used by ZUBEDO to ensure that it provides media content and advertising services that are personalised to the stated interests of a particular registered user.

Once you’ve signed up with ZUBEDO, it is up to individual users and their parents or legal guardians to determine how their personal information is shared. It's important for you to learn and remember how easy it is to share information with others on the internet that you may regret. Be careful what information you put in blogs, groups, pictures, messages, digital media etc. You should never share specific personal information (like your address and phone number) online with anyone. And, if in doubt, talk to your parents, teachers, or other leaders about what is appropriate to create, write, or upload to your ZUBEDO account. You can also report abuse to ZUBEDO directly, where it will be investigated.

If ZUBEDO changes its privacy policy for any reason, then it will let its users and the parents of any younger persons know,

Privacy policy for parents, teachers, and adult leaders

ZUBEDO was created with two competing goals in mind. First, ZUBEDO provides users with a digital media environment that they can personalise to meet their specific requirements. Second, ZUBEDO provides users with the ability to control the scope of publishing and the degree of monitoring that is appropriate to their account or that of their family – this is achieved by editing individual user privacy settings. Additionally, ZUBEDO encourages parents and legal guardians to shadow younger persons’ under their control or direction, ensuring that they are interacting with other ZUBEDOERS in an appropriate manner and that they are uploading and viewing media content that is applicable to their age range.

How ZUBEDO collects & uses information about its users

ZUBEDO has subscribed to industry best practice governing how we inform parents and legal guardians about how we collect, use, and disclose personal information, particularly in relation to younger persons. In this respect, ZUBEDO does not condition a younger person’s participation in any ZUBEDO activity on the provision of providing any more information than is reasonably necessary for the younger person to participate in that activity.

Personal information, such as a younger persons’ full name, address, phone number, email address, may be read by others if it's posted in a blog entry, in a group blog, in a message, a comment, a picture album or a media file. ZUBEDO strongly recommends that parents and legal guardians of younger persons educate them in how to interact with other users of the internet, and about what information to record, and where.

Younger person privacy controls

A special “default” younger person privacy feature has been created for users under the age of 16. This default privacy setting automatically restricts the information that is available to other users of ZUBEDO regarding a younger person. Parents, legal guardians and teachers also have the ability to "shadow" a younger person’s activities on ZUBEDO. For example, if a younger person posts a news-feed entry, the parent will see that entry (providing they are linked to the younger persons account), and can delete the entry if required.

In the course of providing web-based products and services (such as web based games and applications) and in order to provide the highest quality user experience for our members, ZUBEDO may passively track the activity of users accessing its site. This information includes IP addresses of users, page views, unique visitors, and repeat visitors. This data is not correlated in any way with any personally identifiable information.

We also use cookies, which are stored on individuals’ computers, with a view to enhancing their overall user experience. This cookie passively tracks user preferences, when users are logged in to ZUBEDO, as well as some of the activities that are being carried out on the site. Individuals may choose to reject these cookies, but if they do, they may be unable to access all of the ZUBEDO features and services. Refer to your browser's help information to learn how to disable cookies.

From time to time, ZUBEDO may run promotions or special offers that may require users to provide certain information, such as their name, email address, or shipping address. These promotions and special offers are optional, but if users decide to participate, the personal information they provide may be shared with a third party in order to deliver awards or special offers to them.

Parents, legal guardians, or teachers may request that we remove children's personal information at any time. They can do this by emailing ZUBEDO at removeuser@zubedo.com.
